Back to 3D printing page

A web page to gather the tools I use or I have used to print objects in 3D.

CAD

To design the object, I use OpenSCAD software. In the left, you descibe your object using "fomulas" (.scad file) and the object appears in 3D on the right.

The finished object is then exported in STF format.

You can make use of libraries, import objects,... Dimensions are in mm and this tool is very accurate.

Slicer

To transform the STF file in a file usable by the 3D printer (gcode file), I use the Slic3r slicer.

It is possible to store the parameters (temperatures, infills,... for every kind of filament) in a configuration file.

If you click on the three small pictures, you will display the parameters I use today for 3D printing with a PLA filament (2.85 mm diameter).

The slicer can be launched by Pronterface using the "External commands" option.

Printer

For printer interface, I use the Pronterface software.

At the end, I will probably use the printer in autonomous mode putting the gcode file in a SD memory card.
